Hart of Dixie: Series Creator and Star Say CW Show’s Cancelled

Hart of Dixie TV show on CW: cancelledThe CW hasn’t announced that Hart of Dixie has been cancelled but series creator Leila Gerstein and star Scott Porter say that the show is ending.

Hart of Dixie follows a doctor (Rachel Bilson) from New York becomes a general practitioner in a small town in Alabama. The rest of the cast includes Porter, Jaime King, Wilson Bethel, Tim Matheson, and Cress Williams.

Last Friday, Gerstein tweeted, “The final three episodes of #HartofDixie begin tonight. Buckle up, I think you will enjoy the ride. Xo” She followed that up with, “No one out there loves #HOD more than me. I would have gone 17 years! But I assure you, we prepared for this… And the finale will be tremendously satisfying to all.”

Porter tweeted but then deleted this message: “Folks wondering why #HartOfDixie got canned? Simple numbers game folks. Ratings still matter and dictate wins and losses. You have to WATCH.”

While Hart of Dixie’s ratings are not very good, they are up by about 20% season-to-season. It’s been averaging a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.17 million viewers. Those are the same as Reign’s numbers, a show that has the advantage of airing behind one of the network’s top shows and has already been renewed for next year.

What do you think? Do you think that Hart of Dixie is ending? Are you okay with that?
