In August, when Showtime renewed its Homeland TV series through the seventh and eighth seasons, president and CEO David Nevins said the counter-terrorism drama, starring Claire Danes, could go longer than eight seasons.
Executive producer and showrunner Alex Gansa has said he and the writers are working on wrapping up the story. That does not mean Homeland will be cancelled or end after its eighth season. Deadline reports that while the premium cabler could choose to continue its flagship TV series after that, he would be done with it after season eight, adding, “…if I’m still standing.”
According to the report, Gansa said he would like to film one of the last two seasons in Israel, to bring the show “full circle.” The series is adaptation of Prisoners of War, an Israeli drama. Homeland has previously filmed in South Africa and Germany.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Homeland TV series on Showtime? Do you think it should end with season eight, or continue beyond that, with a new showrunner?
