House of Cards is off the rails — or its ad campaign is. In advance of the March 4th season premiere, Netflix has released a new teaser, “Tracks.” Watch it below. (Warning: season two spoilers.)
The House of Cards TV series cast is not in the trailer, save a poster featuring Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood, and a visual reference to Kate Mara’s Zoe Barnes. Still, “Tracks” is a cheeky reminder of the political drama’s dark underbelly.
The teaser opens on a bouquet of flowers lying on a subway track. In the second season premiere, Zoe died from the disease of knowing too much. Frank pushed her in the path of an oncoming train.
The camera pans up to reveal an Underwood campaign poster that reads: “PUTTING AMERICA BACK ON TRACK. UNDERWOOD 2016.” As a train rushes past, Underwood is still somewhat visible, through the cars’ windows.
It closes with the House of Cards title card, including an image of an upside-down American flag — a symbol of dire distress, as well as reminders that the first three seasons are available for streaming, before the fourth season premiere.
Netflix has been having a lot of fun, promoting the fourth season of House of Cards. Its campaign kicked off in December, on CNN, during the fifth GOP Presidential primary debate. Check out “FU2016.”
Last week, Netflix released “The Leader We Deserve,” House of Cards promo. Watch it, here.
