From A&E:
A&E’s Emmy(R) Award-winning and critically-acclaimed docuseries “Intervention” returns this November with two one-hour specials and all new episodes. “Intervention In-Depth: Flakka” premieres Tuesday, November 15 at 9PM ET/PT followed by “Intervention In-Depth: Spice” on Tuesday, November 22 at 9PM ET/PT. Then, new episodes of the original series “Intervention” begin back-to-back on Tuesday, November 29 at 8PM and 9PM ET/PT and will continue at 9PM ET/PT the following week.
Joe Scarborough takes viewers inside “Intervention In-Depth: Flakka,” a one-hour special covering the powerful new street drug that is flooding towns across the country. Coined “five dollar insanity” for its cheap price tag and extreme high, this highly-addictive substance causes users to exhibit dangerous acts of erratic behavior and symptoms of dementia and psychosis.
Natalie Morales narrates “Intervention In-Depth: Spice,” a second one-hour special telling the story of how synthetic marijuana went from an over the counter drug with an undetectable high to what is now considered a lethal poison that has taken the place of crack cocaine on the streets.
“Intervention” profiles people whose uncontrollable addiction to drugs, alcohol or compulsive behavior has brought them to the brink of destruction and has devastated their family and friends. Original interventionists Jeff Van Vonderen, Candy Finnigan, Ken Seeley, Donna Chavous and former series subject and “Intervention” success story Sylvia Parsons return to present these individuals with a life-changing opportunity of intervention and rehab.
New episodes will introduce Todd, a millionaire who has squandered his family’s inheritance on meth and painkillers; Katie, whose heroin addiction is so extreme she must inject it anally, and many more.”
