Jane the Virgin: Renewed for Season Three by CW

Jane the Virgin TV show on The CW: season 3The telenovela-like life of virgin mother Jane Gloriana Villanueva won’t be coming to an end this year. The CW has renewed Jane the Virgin for a third season for the 2016-17 season.

On Jane the Virgin, a driven 23-year-old woman named Jane (Gina Rodriguez) ends up becoming pregnant thanks to being artificially inseminated by mistake. The biological donor is a married cancer survivor, the owner of the hotel where Jane works, and her former teenage crush. She decides to have the baby and things get even more complicated from there. The rest of the cast includes Andrea Navedo, Justin Baldoni, Yael Grobglas, Brett Dier, Ivonne Coll, Jaime Camil, and Anthony Mendez (voice over).

Year-to-year, the dramedy series is down by about 20% in the ratings. The 16 episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 0.38 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 989,000 viewers. It’s one of the lowest-rated shows on the network but remains a favorite with the critics.

The other series renewed today by The CW are The 100, The Flash, Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Originals, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, iZombie, Reign, Supernatural, and The Vampire Diaries.
