Jersey Shore: Season Six Renewal for MTV Series

Jersey Shore season six renewalIs anyone surprised that MTV has given a greenlight for a sixth season of Jersey Shore? Though fading a bit, the very popular reality TV series still gets big numbers, particularly among younger viewers.

Season six of Jersey Shore will revolve around Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s pregnancy and engagement. Both she and Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio have their own spin-off series. The latter’s will premiere on March 29th.

It seems that the cable channel may be pulling Jersey Shore back to one season a year. For the past two years, they’ve filmed one season on the Jersey Shore during the warmer months and then, during the cooler months, filmed in locations like Miami Beach and Italy. Season five was filmed in New Jersey and season six will be as well.

Here’s the MTV press release with additional details about the renewal:

MTV IS EXPECTING… A “JERSEY SHORE” SEASON SIX LIKE NEVER BEFORE!
Production To Begin Summer 2012 In Seaside Heights, NJ

New York, NY (March 19, 2012) – MTV gets ready for fist pumps and baby bumps, with the announcement of a sixth season of “Jersey Shore.” Production is set to begin Summer 2012 in Seaside Heights, NJ. America’s favorite housemates will all return to their home-away-from-home, and the house dynamic is headed into unchartered territory… as their lives outside the “Shore” take off in exciting new directions. While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same.

In its fifth season, “Jersey Shore” is once again the #1 2012 cable series among P12-34, delivering 9 of the top 15 cable telecasts of 2012 to date. Adding in its incredible DVR playback, season five averaged a 7.4 P12-34 rating and 7.9 million total viewers.

Tune-in for “Jersey Shore: The Reunion” this Thursday, March 22 at 10:00 p.m. ET, when all the drama from the past season comes to a head, as the cast members confront each other face to face. For a sneak peek of “Jersey Shore: The Reunion,” click here.

Fans will still be able to get their “Jersey Shore” fix, when Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio steps out of the “Shore” house and into the spotlight, with the series premiere of “The Pauly D Project” on Thursday, March 29 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, following the much-anticipated return of “Punk’d” at 10:00 p.m., featuring a new celebrity host each week.

“Jersey Shore” is executive produced by SallyAnn Salsano from 495 Productions. Jacquelyn French is executive producer for MTV. Janay Dutton is Executive In Charge of Production for MTV. Concept created by Anthony Beltempo.
