Joey McIntyre is playing … Joey McIntyre. Today, Pop announced they’ve ordered a new scripted series starring the New Kids on the Block star called The Joey Mac Project.
The comedy will follow a fictionalized McIntyre as he tries to transition into a serious acting career.
Pop has already ordered eight half-hour episodes of The Joy Mac Project. McIntyre will executive produce the series alongside Donnie Wahlberg, Jenny McCarthy, Tim Gibbons, Paul Greenberg, and Jenny Daly.
From McIntyre:
I lucked out. What are the chances of me being cast as a character named Joey McIntyre? But in all seriousness, if you love to laugh, we have a comedy gold team behind this project who have the secret sauce for funny TV…yes, I just said that.”
