JONAS: Disney Channel Renews TV Show for Season Two

The folks at Disney just can’t get enough of the singing Jonas brothers. Disney Channel has just announced that the trio’s sitcom, JONAS, is coming back for a second season.

JONAS revolves around three brothers; Nick, Kevin and Joe Lucas. The trio of siblings form the enormously successful JONAS band, named after the New Jersey street where they live. They try to live normal lives and attend Horace Mantis Academy while adjusting for hectic concert tours and adoring fans. The sitcom features Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Chelsea Staub, Nicole Anderson, Rebecca Creskoff, John Ducey, Robert Feggans, and Frankie Jonas.

The first season of JONAS has been successful for The Disney Channel and debuted to four million viewers last May.

In its season one primary timeslot Disney boasts that the sitcom ranks first among kids 6-11, tweens 9-14, and is cable TV’s top show in total viewers, averaging 3.4 million viewers a week. It also doesn’t hurt that the series helps to further promote the Jonas Brothers brand.

Disney has a lot in store for fans for JONAS’ second season. Kevin, Joe and Nick set out on a summer adventure with their chief of security Big Rob (Feggans), best friend Stella Malone (Staub), and uber-fan Macy Misa (Anderson). They head to Los Angeles for a vacation and end up staying. Joe pursues a prized role in a big Hollywood film, Kevin shadows a famous director, and Nick partners with an eccentric record producer on the next album.

The second season of JONAS is expected to go into production in February and will likely debut by mid-2010.

What do you think? Are you glad the show is coming back for another season?
