TBS Returning to Nerdvana for Second Season of “King of the Nerds”

TBS has ordered a second season of its unique new competition series King of the Nerds. The series, which currently airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) on TBS, is set to wrap its first season on March 7. The network has ordered eight episodes for the second season of King of the Nerds, with plans for the show to return in 2014.

“King of the Nerds has really clicked with TBS viewers, introducing such concepts as cosplay, quadcopter gaming and nerdcore rap to the uninitiated,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “We look forward to another round of hilarious competition when a new contingent of nerds sets out to win the crown.”

Hosted by actors Robert Carradine (Revenge of the Nerds, The Long Riders) and Curtis Armstrong (Revenge of the Nerds, Ray), King of the Nerds features competitors from across the nerd spectrum facing challenges that test their intellect, ingenuity, skills and pop-culture prowess. The nerds live together in “Nerdvana,” competing first as teams before moving on to individual challenges. In the end, only one competitor will be named the quintessential master of all things nerdy, winning the $100,000 prize.

Through its first three episodes, King of the Nerds has averaged 2.1 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery, with 1.3 million adults 18-49 and 670,000 adults 18-34. The series is executive-produced by Ben Silverman, Chris Grant and Jimmy Fox of Electus and Craig Armstrong and Rick Ringbakk of 5X5 Media, as well as Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong. Electus International, the global distribution arm of Electus, is distributing the series internationally.
