Land of the Giants: Actor Don Marshall Dies at 80

Don Marshall, star of Land of the Giants and Star Trek, died this past weekend at the age of 80, Variety reports.

Throughout the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, Marshall appeared in a number of TV series, including The Bionic Woman, Bewitched, and Julia.

Born in San Diego, Marshall got his start on TV shows like Kraft Suspense Theatre and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. In 1967, he played Boma on “The Galileo Seven” episode of the original Star Trek series. Form there, he went on to small parts in series such as Tarzan and Ironside before landing the recurring role of Dan Erickson on Land of the Giants.

Created by Irwin Allen, the sci-fi drama was set in the future and followed the crew of a spaceship that lands on a mysterious planet where everything is twelve times the size on Earth. The cast also included Gary Conway, Don Matheson, Kurt Kasznar, and Deanna Lund. The ABC show ended in 1970 after two seasons.

Marshall last appeared in the 1992 TV movie Highway Heartbreaker.
