Last Man Standing: Tim Allen Sitcom Gets Full Season

Last Man Standing full seasonTim Allen recently returned to ABC television in a new sitcom called Last Man Standing. The show was well-received initially and now the network has given the show a full season order.

Last Man Standing follows Mike Baxter (Allen) a sporting goods marketing man who’s surrounded by women at home and can’t quite understand where the good old days went. The sitcom also features Nancy Travis, Alexandra Krosney, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Hector Elizondo, and Christoph Sanders.

The sitcom debuted in mid-October to a 3.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 12.93 million viewers. The episode that followed it grew to a 3.8 in the demo and 13.46 million. It was certainly a good kick off for the show.

Unfortunately, the sitcom started falling in week two and hasn’t stopped dropping since. This Tuesday’s episode registered a 2.7 in the demo with 9.42, a far cry from the premiere night’s numbers. One has to wonder when Last Man Standing will stop dropping. The show is currently the fifth-highest rated scripted series on the network but, unless the numbers turn, it won’t keep that rank for very long.

Despite these serious declines, ABC has rewarded Last Man Standing with a full season order which means there will be at least 22 episodes. ABC has also ordered full seasons of Once Upon a Time and Happy Endings, two shows that are having much better seasons. Apparently the alphabet network is hoping that Tim Allen’s show will follow their example.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Last Man Standing? Are you glad to hear that it’s received a full season? Do you think it will be cancelled or renewed by next spring?
