Why did FOX rescue Last Man Standing? Recently, FOX bosses Dana Walden and Gary Newman explained their decision to revive the cancelled ABC TV show, E! reports.
As reported earlier, FOX has picked up the Tim Allen sitcom for a seventh season. The series originally ran on ABC for six season before being cancelled last year. The cast also includes Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
During a recent interview, FOX bosses Dana Walden and Gary Newman revealed why they revived Last Man Standing. Walden explained:
Obviously, everyone took a good hard look at the performance of Roseanne, it did so well. It certainly did remind us that we have a huge iconic comedy star in our Fox family in Tim Allen.”
Newman added:
We’ve been in business with Tim for five years, Tim’s personal politics really aren’t a big feature of the show, and I think that if you were to talk to Tim and our showrunners they would saw Mike Baxter is a centrist, he doesn’t have extreme political views. We just think it’s a really funny show that the audience responded to.”
Last Man Standing will join FOX’s 2018-2019 lineup this fall.
