Law & Order: SVU: Season 18 Renewal from NBC

Law & Order: SVU TV show on NBC: season 18NBC and executive producer Dick Wolf have three successful TV dramas based in the windy city (Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med) but they haven’t forgotten about Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The venerable crime drama has been renewed for an 18th season for the 2016-17 season.

Law & Order: SVU follows an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes in New York City. This season, the cast includes Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, and Raul Esparza.

Despite being in its 17th season, SVU remains one of NBC’s highest-rated scripted series. It’s currently the network’s fourth-highest rated scripted series with an average of a 1.68 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.18 million viewers.

Wolf has signed a new deal that will keep him with NBC through 2020. The network also renewed Wolf’s Chicago Med today, for a second season.
