When it first debuted, The Vampire Diaries earned the highest ratings of any show to have premiered on The CW (at that time). While its Nielsen numbers waned over the years, and the first spin-off, The Originals never quite lived up to the mother show’s standards, Julie Plec and company have done pretty well by the littlest network. Now they have introduced another sequel series, the Legacies TV show. Can it bring viewers old and new back to good old, bad old Mystic Falls? Will Legacies be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A CW supernatural drama, Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Quincy Fouse, Aria Shahghasemi, Peyton Alex Smith, and Matt Davis. The horror fantasy centers on Hope Mikaelson (Russell), daughter of the Original, Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan). Hope is now a student at The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted, along with other unusual students, including Lizzie (Boyd) and Josie (Bryant), the twin daughters of Alaric Saltzman (Davis). Although they’re still in school, they have to keep their abilities and true natures a secret, while they rely on age-old lore to help them learn how to fight their enemies.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/29 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
