Lookinglass (formerly The Frankenstein Code) revolves around an old and disgraced sheriff whose life ends at the hands of corrupt cops. Thanks to a pair of young scientists (Adhir Kalyan and Dilshad Vadsaria), he’s later given a second chance when he’s brought back to life as a 35-year-old (Rob Kazinsky) with unpredictable extraordinary abilities.
Four new network shows — Minority Report, Blood & Oil, The Player, and Truth Be Told — have all seen their episode orders cut this season. This is seemingly the new way to quietly cancel low-rated TV series.
In the case of Lookinglass, a show that doesn’t even have a series premiere date yet, an episode reduction may or may not be bad news. Sources contend that the network has decided that they have too much programming for their spring schedule. That makes sense.
On the other hand, this would seem to indicate some lack of confidence in the series. Considering the state of the rest of FOX’s schedule, you’d think that, if the execs truly believed in this show, they wouldn’t be cutting episodes. Couldn’t they have cut another series’ episodes or shown two fewer reruns?
What do you think? Do you like the sound of Lookinglass? Does it sound like a hit or a quick cancellation?
