What is Lucifer‘s mom like? Recently, TV Guide spoke with Tricia Helfer about her upcoming role in season two of the FOX series.
Helfer has been cast as the mother of Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), the former ruler of Hell who has turned in his crown to be a club owner in Los Angeles. The cast also includes Lauren German, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
Speaking to TV Guide, Helfer says Lucifer’s mother brings out a different side in him:
I think what’s surprising to Lucifer is how Mom isn’t just hell-bent on revenge or out to get him. One of the fun things to see throughout filming is by Mom being there, how you get to see different sides of Lucifer and Amenadiel that you don’t get to see on a regular basis. You get to see a wounded, vulnerable, young boy side to Lucifer that you don’t get to see other times.”
She also revealed that Lucifer might be the favorite son:
Yes, Mom has a favorite son and I think it’s Lucifer. Mom loves all her children and she loved her life before, but Lucifer in many ways follows after his mom. In many ways. Amendaiel has taken his father’s side, and while Lucifer didn’t take his mother’s side, they have a lot of similarities. I think because he reminds her of herself quite a bit, he would probably be her favorite.”
Season two of Lucifer premieres on September 19th.
