What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FOX television network, Lucifer follows Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), the Devil, who has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Following a brutal murder outside of his nightclub, he starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). In season two, Lucifer and his brother (D. B. Woodside) team up to find their mother (Tricia Helfer) who recently escaped from Hell. The rest of the cast includes Rachael Harris, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Aimee Garcia, and Scarlett Estevez.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Lucifer averaged a 1.04 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.65 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 29% in the demo and down by 20% in total viewers. Find out how Lucifer stacks up against the other FOX TV shows.
On February 13, 2017, FOX renewed Lucifer for a third season.
It will debut on Monday, October 2, 2017, at 8pm ET.

Telly’s Take
This drama series has plenty of detractors but it also has many very devoted fans. Considering the ratings, FOX could have easily cancelled Lucifer last season but they renewed it. The ratings are even worse in season two but the network is continuing to have a hard time establishing successful dramas. They could have easily cancelled Lucifer this time around but they’ve renewed it instead.
