Mad Men: Final Season Order Increased, Ending in 2015

Mad Men final seasonSplitting the final season of Breaking Bad into two parts has worked out really well for AMC so now they’ve decided to do the same thing with the last season of Mad Men.

The cable channel has announced that they’re increasing the number of episodes of season seven (from 13 to 14 installments) and plan to air them in two halves. The first seven — “The Beginning” — will start airing next spring and the final seven — “The End of an Era” — will begin running in Spring 2015.

Charlie Collier, AMC’s president, said, “This approach has worked well for many programs across multiple networks, and, most recently for us with Breaking Bad which attracted nearly double the number of viewers to its second half premiere than had watched any previous episode. We are determined to bring Mad Men a similar showcase.”

Mad Men creator/executive producer Matthew Weiner, noted, We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience.”

What do you think? Is this a good move or are they stretching the final season out too long?
