Martin Sheen Reportedly Shopping Mini-Series to ‘Exonerate’ OJ Simpson

OJ Simpson

It’s American Crime Story meets Making a Murderer. According to the New York Daily News, Martin Sheen is trying to develop a true crime documentary series about the infamous 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial.

The actor is teaming with Dallas-based investigator William Dear for the project, which aims to “exonerate” Simpson.

Speaking to the NY Daily News, Dear said the doc will be modeled after popular true crime series like Netflix’s recent success Making a Murderer:

People are fascinated with true crime. I know the time is right for people to look at this O.J. thing,”

Dear, who wrote a 2012 book titled OJ is Innocent and I Can Prove It, says he has evidence that proves Simpson was not involved in the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and 25-year-old waiter Ron Goldman:

It’s not going to be talking heads. These are going to be facts, not hearsay, not soft evidence but hard evidence. … We have diaries. We have pictures of (the suspect) wearing a cap that was found at the crime scene. We have the vehicle the suspect was driving. We have a witness. We feel very confident in what we’ve been able to put together.”

Sheen is expected to host and narrate the series. At the moment, Dear and Sheen are shopping the series to various outlets.

What do you think? Would you watch this O.J. Simpson documentary? Do you think Simpson is innocent?
