CBS confirms it has cancelled the Mike & Molly TV series. Word that Mike & Molly‘s sixth season would be its last came from cast members, a month ago. This is the network’s first acknowledgement of the cancellation.
Cast mate, Roni Reed, first shared details on Facebook. Later, stars Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy also expressed their sadness about the cancellation, via social media.
From Variety:
Newly minted CBS president Glenn Geller made the announcement Tuesday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif.
“‘Mike and Molly,’ listen, these decisions are really challenging and I have a tremendous amount of respect for Chuck [Lorre], Al Higgins, Melissa, Billy — the whole cast and crew,” he said. “But I can conform that this will be the last season of ‘Mike and Molly.’”
As for the final episode of the sitcom, Geller said, “I think the fans will be very satisfied with what Chuck and Al have planned.”
