What’s This TV Show About?
A BBC One crime drama anthology on the Starz premium cable channel, season two of The Missing stars Tchéky Karyo, David Morrissey, Keeley Hawes, Jake Davies, Abigail Hardingham, Laura Fraser, and Roger Allam. In 2003, Sam (Morrissey) and Gemma Webster’s (Hawes) daughter Alice went missing. Eleven years later, a young British woman stumbles through the streets of her German hometown and announces she is Alice (Hardingham). Her return raises suspicions throughout Eckhausen. Alice may hold vital clues to the whereabouts of another missing girl, Sophie Giroux, who vanished shortly before Alice. Haunted by the unsolved Giroux case, French detective Julien Baptiste (Karyo) is motivated out of retirement to follow new information that Alice may have on Sophie’s disappearance. Told across three timelines, flitting between 2014 and the present day, we follow Alice’s family as they are thrown into a turmoil that threatens to tear them apart at the seams
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Missing averaged a 0.04 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 169,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s up by 21% in the demo and down by 7% in viewership. Learn how *The Missing stacks up against the other Starz TV shows.

Telly’s Take
Despite its extremely low US season one ratings, Starz renewed The Missing for a second installment, back in December of 2014. The cabler co-produces the crime drama with the BBC and the show is a strong performer in UK, drawing an average audience of over 8,000,000. When the second season premiered on February 12th, Starz made all episodes available on demand on and on their app, which may indicate season one attracted more viewers than the season one linear ratings suggest. Ratings and costs aside, a couple of months ago co-creators Harry and Jack Williams said they might not want to make a third season. Instead, they might go in a new direction with a spin-off featuring Julien Baptiste (Karyo). Right now, I think it is more likely The Missing will end rather than renewed for season three.
