Mom: Season Three Renewal for CBS Comedy

Mom TV show on CBS: season 3CBS hasn’t made an official announcement yet but their Mom TV show has been renewed for a third season. Series writer Sheldon Bull broke the news on Twitter, writing, “MOM picked up for next year! Thanks, fans from all of us at MOM!”

On Mom, a single mom in recovery (Anna Faris) returns to live with her single mother, who’s also in recovery (Allison Janney). The cast of the show includes Sadie Calvano, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Spencer Daniels, Matt L. Jones, Nick Corddry, Mimi Kennedy, and French Stewart.

Mom was a moderate success in its first year but, not surprisingly, the show’s ratings have improved this season as part of CBS’ Thursday night line-up. It’s currently averaging a 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.35 million viewers. It’s the only CBS scripted series to show season-to-season gains in both categories.

Mike & Molly has also been renewed for the 2015-16 season. The Big Bang Theory is one season into a three season renewal so executive producer Chuck Lorre will have at least three comedies on CBS next season.

What do you think? Do you like the Mom sitcom? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed? How does it compare to the other CBS comedies?
