Singer Rhiannon Giddens — co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops — has joined the fifth season of the Nashville TV show, which was picked up by CMT, after ABC cancelled the country music drama series in May.
According to CMT, Giddens has been cast as social worker Hanna Lee “Hallie” Jordan. Giddens tweeted a photo of herself with star Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne), from the show’s first table read. Nashville season five kicks off with a two-hour premiere on January 5th on CMT. SVOD partner Hulu will continue to bring fans new episodes of Nashville by making them available to stream the day after they air on CMT.
