National Treasure: Cancelled; No Second Season for Disney+ Adventure Series

National Treasure TV Show on Disney+: canceled or renewed?

National Treasure has come to an end on Disney+. The streaming service has cancelled the adventure series National Treasure: Edge of History after just one season, per Deadline.

Starring Lisette Alexis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zuri Reed, Jordan Rodrigues, Antonio Cipriano, and Jake Austin Walker, the series is a continuation of the popular National Treasure film franchise. Justin Bartha and Harvey Keitel reprise their roles from the films.

The series follows Jess (Alexis), a DREAMer in Baton Rouge, who discovers that her deceased father was part of a secret network of treasure protectors. She and her friends embark on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about the past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.

The series launched in December and ran for 10 episodes. The finale was released in February. Considering the popularity of the franchise, the series was likely cancelled because viewership didn’t live up to the streaming service’s expectations.

Disney+ has cancelled a number of its series after one or two seasons, including Big Shot, Diary of a Future PresidentThe Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, The Mysterious Benedict Society, and Turner & Hooch. All are unrelated to the Star Wars or Marvel properties.

What do you think? Are you disappointed by this cancellation? Did you want to see a second season of National Treasure on Disney+?
