FOX is sticking with New Girl. Variety reports the network has renewed the comedy for a sixth season.
The series is currently in the middle of its fifth season. It stars Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, and Hannah Simone.
Despite Deschanel’s absence in the first half, season five hasn’t dropped significantly in the ratings as compared to season four. So far, the season is averaging a 1.22 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.763 million viewers.
From Fox Broadcasting entertainment president David Madden:
Every network comedy should aspire to what Liz Meriwether is achieving in ‘New Girl,’ with its bravura dialogue, inventive and witty performances by the talented cast and emotionally engaging storytelling. The series is as creatively strong today as it ever was, we want to congratulate ‘New Girl’ on reaching its milestone 100th episode, and we can’t wait for the next subversive and hilarious chapter of these characters’ lives.”
What do you think? Do you watch New Girl? Are you glad it’s been renewed? How many seasons do you think it will last?
