Could Frequency and No Tomorrow have a future? Recently, CW boss Mark Pedowtiz revealed what it would take to renew the network’s low-rated freshman series, Deadline reports.
Both shows were notably missing from the The CW recent slate of renewals, which included a third season for the similarly low-rated Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane The Virgin, Supernatural, and all four of the network’s DC superhero series—The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.
Currently, Frequency, holds an average rating of .29 in the 18-49 demo and only 990,000 viewers. Based on the movie of the same name, the drama follows a police detective who discovers she can communicate with her dead father through an old radio. The cast includes Petyon List, Riley Smith, Devin Kelley, Anthony Ruivivar, Mekhi Phifer, Lenny Jacobson, and Daniel Bonjour.
Season one of No Tomorrow is receiving even lower ratings, earning an average of .27 in the 18-49 demo and only 822,000 viewers so far. The dramedy stars Tori Anderson as an organized young woman whose life comes crashing down when she falls for a free-spirited man (Joshua Sasse) who believes the world is ending.
During The CW’s recent TCA panel, Pedowitz said the shows could be renewed this spring if they perform well on Netflix. As of now, it seems they’ll likely be cancelled:
[W]hether it was the fall presidential election, the World Series or NBC’s This Is Us, which aired against No Tomorrow, the linear ratings for the shows were not what we wanted them to be.”
