What’s This TV Show About?

A Vampire Diaries spin-off, airing on The CW television network, The Originals stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel. Claire Holt and Leah Pipes guest star. The CW supernatural drama series follows the Mikaelson family, the world’s first vampires who have returned to reclaim New Orleans. In season four, the Mikaelsons reunite, only to face an even bigger threat: the revival of an ancient evil with strong ties to their most vulnerable family member. After a devastating attack by this nightmarish entity, they must stand their ground and forge an alliance with those who hate them most: Marcel (Davis) and Vincent (Gatewood).
 

Season Four Ratings

The fourth season of The Originals averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 940,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 15% and up by 1%, respectively. Learn how The Originals stacks up against the other CW TV shows.
 

 

Telly’s Take

Since The Vampire Diaries ended, Reign is ending, and it seems likely freshman dramas Frequency and No Tomorrow will not return, I suspect The CW will renew The Originals for season five. Much like this season though, I don’t expect they’ll issue a full 22 episode order. Subscribe to be notified of any cancellation or renewal news.
