What’s next for Peaky Blinders? The BBC Two series just ended its third season last week, and star Cillian Murphy teased some season four plans to Digital Spy.
The historical drama stars Murphy as Tommy Shelby, the head of a Birmingham street gang that rises to prominence. The cast also includes Helen McCrory, Annabelle Wallis, and Paul Anderson. The series is available on Netflix in the United States.
Discussing season four, Murphy says there are critical decisions ahead for Tommy and his family:
I think his family think that he’s betrayed them, and it will be up to Tommy to demonstrate to them that he hasn’t betrayed them, and that he has a bigger plan. The question is what that bigger plan is. Who is he going to call? What’s going to happen to the family? Can he ever get that level of trust or love back again?”
The actor added that he doesn’t see the season three cliffhanger as the end for Tommy either:
“I think he will never stop. Because of what happened to him in the First World War, I think it’s never going to stop. He’ll just always be this man searching for something I think that even if he achieved all this material wealth and he achieves some sort of position of power… I don’t see him retiring with a pipe and slippers, that’s for sure.”
Peaky Blinders has already been renewed for both a fourth and fifth season.
