Powerless: Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk Join DC Comics Pilot for NBC

Community‘s Danny Pudi, Firefly‘s Alan Tudyk and A to Z‘s Christina Kirk have been cast in the Powerless TV series pilot at NBC. Powerless comes from Ben Queen, co-creator of Drive (with Tim Minear,) which was cancelled by FOX after only four episodes. The Peacock Network ordered this DC Comics comedy pilot, back in January.

The new hires join Vanessa Hudgens, who was cast earlier this week, according to Variety. Set in the DC Comics universe at an insurance company, Powerless features ordinary people in a world full of superheroes and villains, too.

Variety says Hudgens plays insurance claims adjuster Emily Locke. Emily likes to help people and is fed up with all the super-powered havoc in her city. Pudi plays her office bud, Teddy. In a description that makes him sound like John Krasinkski’s Jim Halpert on The Office, Teddy wastes time pranking people to get through the day.

Tudyk (late of Suburgatory) is Emily’s new boss, Del, who has been promoted thanks to good old nepotism. Variety describes Del as a “self-proclaimed ‘rich, over-educated globetrotting wastrel’,” and says, “Del is a power-mad disastrous dictator of a boss.” Kirk has been cast as Jackie, Del’s assistant and a superhero groupie. According to the report, all four actors cast so far are in series regular roles.

Hudgens is fresh off her successful turn as Rizzo, in NBC’s Grease: Live production. While she made a name for herself in the High School Musical TV movie franchise, and has appeared on shows such as The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, and Drake & Josh, this is her first time as a TV series regular.

What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Powerless TV show pilot? If NBC orders it as a TV series, will you check it out?
