NBC Orders Four Comedy Pilots from Tina Fey, Matt Hubbard, Marlon Wayans, Ben Queen

by Cindy McLennan, January 9, 2016

NBC TV shows

NBC has ordered pilots for four new comedies. Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, and Dan Miner will EP Tracey Wigfield’s untitled single-camera comedy. Matt Hubbard is EPing and writing a series inspired by life with his in-laws. Update 5/13/2016: Update, the comedy was ordered to series with the title Great News.

Marlon Wayans’ new Marlon TV series is written by Chris Moynihan. Ben Queen is writing and EPing the Powerless TV show, set in the DC Comics universe.

Here are more details from TVInsider:

Untitled Tracey Wigfield Project comes from former 30 Rock and The Mindy Project scribe Tracey Wigfield and focuses on a close mother/daughter relationship that becomes more complicated when the mom accepts an internship at her daughter’s workplace. Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and David Miner executive produce the single camera series from Universal Television, 3Arts and Little Stranger.

Based on characters from DC Comics, Powerless, from executive producers Ben Queen (A to Z) and Michael Patrick Jann, is a single camera office comedy about the exceedingly average employees at an insurance company and their question to find their own power. Warner Brothers Television produces.

Marlon Wayans returns to television in Marlon, a multi-camera comedy inspired by his life that centers on an inappropriate but loving father committed to successfully co-parenting with his polar opposite ex-wife. Chris Moynihan, Rick Alvarez and Michael Rotenberg produce the series from Universal Televison, 3Arts and Wayans Brothers Entertainment.

Untitled Matt Hubbard Project, from former 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation writer Matt Hubbard, is a single camera comedy about a guy learning to manage the expectations and strong cultural traditions of his in-laws after he moves his family to his wife’s hometown. Hubbard, Mike Schur and David Miner executive produce the series loosely based on Hubbard’s life from Universal Television and 3Arts.

Which of these comedies catches your attention? If NBC orders them to series, which ones do you think you might check out? Tell us.
