What’s This TV Show About?
A sitcom airing on the NBC television network Powerless follows spunky Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens). She’s the new Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. She’s full of confidence and has big ideas but Emily quickly discovers those are a bit beyond her new boss, Vanderveer “Van” Wayne (Alan Tudyk), the black sheep of his family. Her well-meaning officemates include Chief Design Officer Teddy (Danny Pudi), Chief Engineer Ron (Ron Funches), and Jackie (Christina Kirk), Van Wayne’s beleaguered and long-suffering executive assistant.

Telly’s Take
The series premiere garnered unimpressive ratings, despite a lead-in from sophomore comedy Superstore. The numbers have dropped much lower as the weeks have progressed. Based on the numbers, Powerless is very likely to be cancelled rather than renewed for a second season.
4/25 update: NBC has pulled Powerless off the schedule. It is likely cancelled. Details here.
