What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on Disney-ABC’s Freeform channel, Pretty Little Liars follows a group of young ladies from the little town of Rosewood, PA. And boy, do they have a lot of secrets. The show’s cast includes Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse, Ian Harding, Janel Parrish, Tyler Blackburn, Laura Leighton, Keegan Allen, Huw Collins, Drew Van Acker, Roberto Aguire, David Coussins, Nicholas Gonzalez, and Nia Peeples.
 

Season Seven Ratings

The seventh season of Pretty Little Liars averaged a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.11 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 32% in the demo and down by 35% in viewers. Find out how Pretty Little Liars stacks up against other Freeform TV shows.
 

 

Telly’s Take

Although its ratings have declined over the years, I believe Freeform would have renewed Pretty Little Liars for an eighth season, because it is still the cabler’s top performer. It is not as though the mystery drama was cancelled. Creator I. Marlene King wrote the story to its natural conclusion.

I like it when a show comes to an organic and planned end. While I’ll consume any carrion I find, prematurely cancelled fare has the bitter aftertaste only a lack of closure can bring. I’m much more satisfied when feasting upon a cancelled or ended TV series, if I know viewers have a chance at satisfaction too. And take heart, PLL fans, King has said she plans to revisit Pretty Little Liars in the future.
