Project Runway Junior: Tim Gunn Loves Show; Season Two Coming?

Project Runway Junior TV show on Lifetime season one

Project Runway Junior premiered on Lifetime, Thursday, November 12, 2015. Before the first episode aired, Tim Gunn raved about the new series, and — if you squint — implied a second season of the young designers’ competition TV series. Judge Kelly Osbourne also declared her affection for the series, during an appearance on ABC‘s daytime talk show, The Chew. Continue on for details.

From Variety:

How do you feel about this new show?

I loved every second of it. I was not a fan of Season 14 [of Project Runway]. We started filming “Junior” after we wrapped the bulk of the episodes for Season 14. After spending just a half a day with the “Junior” designers, it was like a Season 14 antidote. It was like the sun came out and the clouds parted. I loved every second of this season. I was sick when it ended.

Was it because the contestants were so fresh faced and new or was it because of the designs they were making?

All of the above. I loved the people and I loved their work and I had no idea they’d be so creative and innovative. […]

Is there ever a challenge where they get to style you?

(Laughs). That’ll be next season.

That reads like a season two renewal tease, to us.

Gunn isn’t alone in his love for the spin-off. On the November 12th episode of ABC’s The Chew, celebrity chef Mario Batali asked Osbourne about her experience judging Project Runway Junior.

Osbourne said:

It was the most beautiful experience I’ve ever had on a TV show, because I watched these young designers — I can’t call them kids — because they’re just so talented, it’s mind-blowing. I fell in love with every single one of them. We became like a little family.

She later added, “Every single one of those designers will end up being a huge staple in the fashion industry, and they are beyond talented.

What do you think? Did you watch the Lifetime TV series premiere of Project Runway Junior? Would you like to see it renewed for a second season? How do you think it compares to original recipe Project Runway?
