It was a poor start for the news program. The premiere was bested by both ABC and CBS, by nearly 300% in the demo. Compared to the last original episode of now-cancelled The Playboy Club, NBC was down by 17%. Compared to last year’s episode of Chase in the same timeslot, the network was down by 25% in the demo.
Though it should be noted that the show debuted on Halloween night, an evening when many shows were down, Rock Center now ranks as the lowest-rated show on the network. It’s easily out-performed even by Friday night’s edition of Dateline.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Rock Center with Brian Williams TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
