Romantically Challenged: TV Show Cancelled? Alyssa Milano Says “No!”

It’s been reported that ABC’s new sitcom, Romantically Challenged has been cancelled after just three weeks on the air. One of the show’s stars isn’t ready to go out without a fight.

Romantically Challenged follows a group of friends who, for one reason or another, have a difficult time finding love. The sitcom’s cast includes Alyssa Milano, Josh Lawson, Kelly Stables, Kyle Bornheimer, Camden Palmisano, and Sierra McCormick.

The TV show got off to an okay start with a 2.9 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 10.67 million viewers. In week two, Romantically Challenged dropped to a 2.6 in the target demo and 9.06 million viewers. Last week’s episode ratings dropped further in the demo, with a 2.4 rating, but rose in total viewers to 9.644 million.

While the show’s performance isn’t terrible, the downward trend isn’t positive. It’s also not good that the series is losing so much of the Dancing with the Stars lead-in audience.

Late yesterday, it was reported that Romantically Challenged was being cancelled after one season. Series star Milano wrote that she couldn’t believe that she’d just found out her show was cancelled via Twitter.

She later reported that she’d spoken to the network who told her that ABC hadn’t officially made a decision yet. Milano then encouraged readers to stay positive and to call the network’s opinion line (818-460-7477) to leave a message of support.

Next Monday’s episode of Romantically Challenged is the last one that ABC has on the schedule and it airs the night before ABC’s upfront presentation. If the network truly hasn’t made a decision on the sitcom’s fate, they’re likely waiting to see how well episode four performs. Either way, we should know if Romantically Challenged has been renewed or cancelled on Tuesday.

What do you think? Should Romantically Challenged get a second season or should it be cancelled?
