Satan’s Sisters: Vanessa Williams to Star in Series Inspired by The View

Satan's Sisters TV show on VH1: season one (canceled or renewed?)

Vanessa Williams has been cast as Maxine, the lead role in the Satan’s Sisters TV series, coming to VH1. The show is based on the novel of the same name by Star Jones, inspired by her time as a co-host of The View TV show on ABC.

Satan’s Sisters features five female co-hosts of a daytime talkshow called The Lunch Hour. On the air, the ladies come across as good friends. Backstage, it is a different story. Williams’ character, Maxine, is the Barbara Walters of the bunch, if you will.

Here is more from Deadline:

The series centers on daytime TV talk show The Lunch Hour and the fireworks that ensue each weekday when the co-hosts discuss life, love, family, politics and gossip. Williams will play Maxine, the show’s creator and host, a formidable, powerful and decisive woman who fears she’s being put out to pasture. Slated for a 2017 premiere, the series will focus on Maxine and her co-hosts, five women with very different points of view. On the small screen they’re best friends and colleagues. Behind the scenes, however, they’re “Satan’s Sisters” — an off-camera world filled with power struggles, personal demons, diva fits, love affairs, man troubles, cat fights — and cocktails

What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Satan’s Sisters TV show? When it premieres on VH1, do you plan to check it out?
