School Pride focuses on communities that come together to renovate their broken and aging public schools. The series follows parents, teachers, and students as they roll up their sleeves to make some positive changes in their hometowns. The TV series’ hosts are Susie Castillo, Jacob Soboroff, Tom Stroup, and Kym Whitley.
The premiere of School Pride attracted a tiny 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.90 million total viewers. That put it in third place in the timeslot, tying with a repeat of No Ordinary Family on ABC.
As bad as the debut was, the ratings for subsequent episodes went even lower, attracting as little as a 0.6 rating in the demo and just 2.21 million viewers. The season ended up averaging a 0.7 demo and 2.5 million. Not surprisingly, with numbers like those, it’s the lowest-rated NBC series for the 2010-11 season — an unfortunate distinction.
Though it was widely assumed to be dead last fall, NBC didn’t make it official until now. They’ve cancelled School Pride. All seven of the produced episodes have aired.
What do you think? Are you sorry that there won’t be a second season of School Pride? Why do you think it didn’t catch on while shows like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition have thrived for years?
