While its season two finale aired last night, FOX has yet to cancel or renew the Scream Queens TV show for a third season. Back in August, EP Ryan Murphy said he was looking to broaden the series’ audience in the second season. Did he succeed? Should FOX pick up Scream Queens for a third season, or cancel it?
A campy comedy-horror series, Scream Queens stars Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Billie Lourd, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kirstie Alley, Taylor Lautner, James Earl, and John Stamos.
Scream Queens TV Show on FOX Ratings
In its second season, Scream Queens averaged a 0.60 in the 18-49 year old viewer ratings demographic. In addition, season two drew an average total audience of only 1.446 million viewers.
Currently, we are tracking the ratings for 16 scripted FOX series in the 2016-17 television season. Ratings-wise, those numbers land Scream Queens dead last on FOX’s scripted slate, whether sorting by the demo or the total viewership.
By comparison, Scream Queens season one averaged a 1.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic and drew about 2.79 million total viewers. After just two seasons, nearly half the audience seems to have disappeared.
Generally speaking, ratings are the best indication of whether a show will stay on the air. Despite setting Scream Queens season two in a hospital, it doesn’t seem Murphy and crew managed to stanch the bleeding. Still, speak your mind.
