Scream: Season Two Renewal of MTV Series Pulled Back?

Earlier this evening, TVLine reported that MTV had renewed their new Scream series for a second season. Executive producer Jaime Paglia had announced the renewal toward the end of the series’ Comic-Con panel late today. That article’s since been deleted.

The show’s Twitter account echoed the news in a tweet that read, “Exec producer @JaimePaglia just made an announcement at our #SDCC panel…THERE WILL BE A SEASON 2 OF #MTVSCREAM. HELL YES.” That tweet has now been deleted as well.

Based on the early ratings, it seems likely that Scream will return for a second season but, for whatever reason, somebody doesn’t want the news to be released just yet.
