What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, Shades of Blue stars Jennifer Lopez, Ray Liotta, Warren Kole, Drea de Matteo, Dayo Okeniyi, Vincent Laresca, Hampton Fluker, Sarah Jeffery, and Gino Anthony Pesi. The series follows Harlee Santos (Lopez) and her work “family” of Brooklyn detectives. Season two will find Harlee navigating her fractured relationship with Wozniak (Liota) as she struggles to conceal the fact that she killed her daughter’s father. Not only are Stahl (Kole) and the FBI scrutinizing their precinct, so is Internal Affairs Detective Verco (Dov Davidoff). Meanwhile, a former member of their crew, Julia Ayres (Anna Gunn) is running for mayor, which will bring her association with Harlee and Wozniak to the fore. The two will be blindsided, when Ayres’ corrupt connections pit them against the Mafia.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Shades of Blue is averaging a 0.78 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.37 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 33% in the demo and down by 24% in viewership. Find out how Shades of Blue stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
On March 17, 2017, Shades of Blue was renewed for a third season, to debut on June 17, 2018 at 10:00pm. There will be no season four. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
In its first season, Shades of Blue debuted with strong ratings, and NBC renewed it after only five episodes aired. As the season progressed, the numbers declined. While season two got off to a disappointing start, the network decided to renew Shades of Blue for a third season anyway. Subscribe to be notified of any Shades of Blue updates.
4/4/2018 update: Shades of Blue has been cancelled by NBC. While there will be no season four, the network has announced the premiere date for the third and final season. Details here.
