The Gallagher family is now one member short. Deadline reports star Emmy Rossum is leaving Showtime’s Shameless after nine seasons.
Rossum plays Fiona Gallagher on the comedy-drama, which also stars William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, Cameron Monaghan, Emma Kenney, Shanola Hampton, and Steve Howey.
In a letter to fans, Rossum announced she will be leaving Shameless after its ninth season, which premieres on Showtime on September 9th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It’s unclear if the show will return for a 10th season, considering how crucial Rossum’s character is to the series.
