The State is making a comeback. Soon, you’ll be able to read the entire oral history of the ’90s MTV sketch group, AV Club reports.
The State TV show ran on MTV from 1993 to 1995. The 11-member comedy troupe featured David Wain, Ken Marino, Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, Robert Ben Garant, Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Kevin Allison, Todd Holoubek, Michael Patrick Jann, and Thomas Lennon.
The book, titled The Union of the State, will feature “the oral history of the troupe’s creation, dissolution, reinvention and reunion over the last three decades, told by the members of the group and their collaborators.” Also included will be a special foreword written by Keegan-Michael Key.
Several members from The State have gone on to create and star in classic comedy films and TV shows like Wet Hot American Summer, Stella, Reno 911!, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The Union of the State will be available on May 3rd. You can pre-order a copy now from author Corey Stulce’s website, where you can also read a sample chapter.
