What’s This TV Show About?

Airing on the CMT cable channel, Still the King stars Billy Ray Cyrus as Vernon Brownmule. The cast also includes Joey Lauren Adams, Madison Iseman, Jon Sewell, Travis Nicholson, Leslie David Baker, Kevin Farley, and Justin Dray. In season two, Austin Swift guest stars as Tyler, the manager of Nashville’s storied music venue, The Bluebird Café. Arden Myrin and Natalie Dreyfuss have also joined in recurring roles.

The comedy centers on “Burnin’ Vernon” — a scandal-ridden, washed-up, one-hit-wonder who has been eking out a living as an Elvis Presley impersonator. Now that he is out of jail, Vernon aims to reclaim music career, while still being a good dad to Charlotte (Iseman). Since he may be the father of Debbie’s (Adams) unborn child, Vernon must balance his desire for fame with his family responsibilities.
 

Season Two Ratings

Telly’s Take

Season two premiered with very low numbers and they’ve gotten worse. At this point, I believe it will be cancelled. Since I’m fond of southern fare, I’ll keep a hungry eye on the Nielsens and update this page as needed. Subscribe for free updates on any Still the King cancellation or renewal news.
