What’s in store The Strain? Recently, executive producers Carlton Cuse and Chuck Hogan spoke with Collider about season three and the future of the FX series.
Set in New York City, the horror drama explores the human struggle against a vampire apocalypse. The cast includes s Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Kevin Durand, Ruta Gedmintas, Richard Sammel, Max Charles, Samantha Mathis, and Rupert Penry-Jones.
In the interview, Cuse explained why season three has 10 episodes instead of the typical 13:
It’s something we asked for. It just felt like, to make the story telling really kinetic and fast-paced, it was a way to tell this season’s story. Everybody is on war footing. The season is about the battle for New York, so 10 episodes felt like the exact right length to tell that story.”
Hogan also revealed they have a plan for the end of the series:
Yeah, we have a fairly specific idea of where the show is going. We have an end. It’s just about what it’s going to take to get there and what the best way is to get there. Honestly, we had a very specific end in mind for this season, and that was great to write to. That was something, along with the fewer episodes, that really streamlined the storytelling. I think we’re going to keep that in our heads, as we go ahead and keep our eyes on the end, to make sure we get maximum impact going into it, however and whenever this series ends.“
Season three of The Strain is currently airing on FX on Sundays.
