Strike Back aired its fourth season late in 2015, but there was a huge delay between the end of season three and the return of the series to Cinemax. The reason for that large delay has now been explained, and it was due to an injury suffered by a member of the cast on-set.
Sullivan Stapleton was injured while filming back in February 2014. The fact he was injured was revealed, but the full extent of his injuries were not. He was seriously injured though, and he also spent some time in a coma.
Robson Green spoke about the injury during an appearance at the Winter TCA’s earlier this week. He was promoting his latest project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he said:
“It wasn’t supposed to be me as Geordie Keating. I don’t know if you guys know the story of what happened to Strike Back. Wonderful actor, Sullivan Stapleton, who was in that had a serious accident and was in a coma. We nearly lost him. And, therefore, the show had to stop.”
Stapleton recovered from his injuries, and he now stars on Blindspot on NBC. That series has already been renewed for a second season.
