Supernatural, iZombie: CW President Hopes for More Seasons

It’s a Creature Double Feature. The way CW president Mark Pedowitz is talking at the TCA winter press tour, it sounds like both the Supernatural and iZombie TV series are more likely to be renewed than cancelled. Currently in its 11th season, Supernatural has performed well for the network, despite changing broadcast nights five times, during its long run.

While creator Eric Kripke left the show after its fifth season, Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki (and that gorgeous black ’67 Impala, Baby) have continued to re-up their contracts. In his remarks, Pedowitz mentioned the actors (but not Baby), as well as iZombie creators Rob Thomas, Diane Ruggiero, and stars Malcolm Goodwin, Rose McIver, and Rahul Kohli.

While not signing anything in blood, just yet, Pedowitz sounds positive about a 12th season for Supernatural. Via TV Line:

“Both Jared and Jensen are having a blast,” noted the exec. “As long as they’re having a blast, it’s a great thing. The show is performing better than it did last year, better than you could ever hope. I’m very hopeful that we’ll see it again.”

Here are Pedowitz’s encouraging comments about a third season of the iZombie TV show, from The Mary Sue:

I think [creators] Rob Thomas and Diana Ruggiero have done a terrific job. I think it’s stronger this year. I think Malcolm, Rose and Rahul have done a great job in terms of what they’re going for … Look, I think the show has a very good shot at third season and I’m really proud of that show.

Last month, we reported that Kristen Bell was making a voice cameo on iZombie, reuniting her with Veronica Mars‘ creator, Thomas and (then) writer, Ruggiero. You can hear Bell’s dulcid tones on the iZombie season 2B premiere, on January 19, in the episode, “Fifty Shades of Grey Matter.”
