Supernatural: Spin-off Series Still Possible Says CW President

Supernatural

Supernatural will return with season 12 next month, and there is still plenty of more Supernatural to come. Is a spin-off of the series still possible? Yes, it is, according to the man in charge of CW, Mark Pedowitz.

There are still talks of a spin-off at the network. It is a matter of finding the right idea and timing. Pedowitz said the following, according to Entertainment Weekly:

“We’ve bounced ideas over the years. If there is something that the creators and the studio want to do in terms of developing a spin-off of Supernatural, we’re open to hear it and we’re open to develop it, because I do believe there is a world where you can have a second show like this.”

Fans might have to wait until Supernatural is heading off the air before a spin-off arrives though. Andrew Dabb, the current showrunner of the popular series, said the following:

“I would say it’s something that exists in the background for us right now. This show is our priority. We would never want to do something that would weaken the show. There are certainly characters on the show that we think are really strong and could have a TV show and I would watch that TV show, but they also fulfill a very important role on our show. So in terms of saying there’s an active spin-off in development right now, there isn’t.”

This isn’t the first time a spin-off has been discussed. A backdoor pilot for a spin-off aired during season nine, but it did not move forward.
