Superstore: Cancel or Keep the NBC Sitcom?

Superstore TV show on NBC: cancel or renew for season 2?Big stores like Walmart have been very successful but can the same be said for NBC’s sitcom that’s centered around a Walmart-like store? Has Superstore brought in big ratings? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

Superstore revolves around the dysfunctional family dynamic that forms among employees at the fictional Cloud 9 Superstore. The comedy’s cast includes America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Bloom, and Mark McKinney.

The series launched late last year with a pair of episodes as a special “preview” that followed a highly rated episode of The Voice. They averaged a 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic with 6.28 million viewers. That was a very positive start.

The next episode aired in late December and few tuned in. It drew a 0.8 in the demo with 2.62 million.

Fortunately, episode four (which aired on January 4th) bounced back and drew a 1.75 in the demo with 6.04 million. The numbers have been dwindling downward since then. Last week’s installment drew a 1.21 rating with 3.89 million.

Though the ratings have come down quite a bit, Superstore is still doing pretty well — especially for an NBC comedy in 2016. The network has been struggling to establish any sitcoms so I suspect they’ll renew this one for another season and hope that they can build its audience in season two.

But, what do you think? Do you like the Superstore sitcom on NBC? Do you think it should return for a second season? Cancel or keep it?
