Telly’s Take
For 17 years, 34 seasons, and 500 episodes (and counting) on CBS, Survivor has laughed right in my starving face. But that’s okay. Although, I admit to enjoying a spring lamb chop or a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau, I am also partial to dry-aged beef and the occasional vintage Port. In other words, I will gladly play the long game, Probst. Ask Gunsmoke, Law & Order, and Lassie. Heck, forget those young’uns. Look at the once prolific daytime drama genre, then ask Guiding Light, As the World Turns, One Life to Live, and All My Children. They’ll all tell you, “Because the television vulture is watching, he always wins in the end.” Well, they would say that, had they not already been to dinner. Just trust me. I can speak for them, as they are now part of me, but I digress…
Despite declining ratings, this still strong performer does not yet seem ready to… ahem… accept my dinner invitation. While Survivor has not yet been cancelled or renewed for a 35th season, the CBS TV series is reportedly already planning for seasons 35 and 36, also in Fiji. Although production on season 35 should begin soon, the two-season renewal is not yet official, so I’ll keep an eye on the ratings and update this page periodically.
