TV show description:
This game show was formerly titled Howie Mandel’s White Elephant and is based on the popular holiday party game/gift exchange sometimes called Yankee Trader.
At the start of each episode, the first of several contestants selects an unmarked package from the show’s warehouse. Each prize is worth thousands of dollars — luxury cars, exotic trips, jewelry, and VIP experiences.
The subsequent players are faced with a dilemma: does he/she steal a prize that has already been revealed, or does he/she take a chance with another unopened prize, hoping that what’s inside is even better? A person with a revealed prize can block a theft attempt only once per game.
At the end of the round, the contestant with the lowest-valued prize goes home with nothing. The remaining contestants move on to the next round. When there are only two contestants left, they each choose a cash box at random. One of the available boxes is worth $250,000 while the others have significantly less.
At this point, the players have a big decision to make: do they keep the prizes they have or, try to take their opponent’s prizes as well. And what will the other person do?
If both players choose to “keep mine,” they each keep all of the prizes they’ve won. If one player chooses “take it all” and the other chooses to “keep mine,” the player that chose to “take it all” will go home with all the prizes — theirs and their opponent’s. But if both choose to “take it all,” they both go home with nothing.
